In addition to academic support, we genuinely get to know each of the children to ensure their emotional wellbeing. We give each a birthday gift on their special day, and we throw end-of-the-year events to give them experiences comparable to their general admissions peers. For example, one year we went to the zoo, while another year we went to Express Mall's FunZone. By getting to know the families, we can learn if there are any factors at home that may inhibit the child's ability to perform well in the classroom. We keep an eye out for serious illnesses, alcoholism, domestic abuse, marital problems, and other personal problems. When these problems exist, our tutoring center serves as a stable, welcoming place for the child.
